Dear Friend, I want to ask you a question today. It is the most important question anyone could ask you about your life. Your joy or sorrow both here and in eternity depends upon your answer. The question is: Are you saved? Was there a time and place somewhere in your life where you, from the depths of your heart, bowed and asked God to save you? Here are some things you must do: 1) You must realize that you are a sinner and need a Savior! Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” The Bible teaches that every man since Adam is born in sin, therefore, they must be saved. Saved from what? Saved from their sins, but also saved from a place called hell which was created for the devil and his angels. II Peter 2:4 says, “For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment.” Hell is an eternal separation from God. No man can work his/her way to salvation after they die. Every man will die! Hebrews 9:27 says, “...it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.” Death is something we all have to face, but we don’t have to face it without God if we are saved. You see Jesus came to this earth to bear your sin and die in your place. He was conceived of the Holy Ghost, born of a virgin, and was God manifested in the flesh, therefore He could not sin. II Corinthians 5:21 says, “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousnes of God in him.” 2) You must hear and believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ! Most people have heard of or can quote John 3:16. (”For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” John 3:16-17) Salvation is something we all must experience in order to go to Heaven. Salvation is by grace through faith. Ephesians 2:8 says, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God,” and Ephesians 3:17 says, “That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith.” 3) You must be saved! You must repent of your sins and by faith trust Jesus Christ to be your substitute for sin. Acts 17:30b says, “God...commandeth all men every where to repent.” This repentance is a change of mind. It is to agree with God that you are a sinner and need Jesus as your Savior. In Acts 16:30- 31, the Philippian jailor asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” The reply of the apostle was “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.” We must believe that Christ died for our sins and bore those sins on the cross of Calvary. John 1:12 says, “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name,” and Romans 10:13 says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” What happens after you are saved? John 3:18 show us you are not condemned for your sins. “He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” John 3:36 says, “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.” In John 17:24, Christ prayed, “Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.” I Peter21b-22 shows that by His resurrection He overcame all things and is at the right hand of the Father interceding on our behalf. It says, “...by the resurrection of Jesus Christ: 22 Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.” Revelation 21:2, 7-8 says, “And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband... 7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. 8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” I John 5:13 says, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.” Whatever you do, be sure you are saved! Mark 8:36 says, “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”
